This impressive looking tyre is the Michelin City Grip scooter tyre. This tyre is the first of its kind to feature Michelins latest Progressive Sipe Technology (PST) to improve safety on wet roads. The City Grip replaces the Michelin Gold Standard range, which was very popular in its time, and covers a large spectrum of the scooters 125cc and above. Be warned that The City Grip 2 is now replacing the City Grip so there may be times during this transition period you’ll have to match one with the other.

PST technology features sipes which run the full depth of the tread rubber and inturn are there to cut through the water on the surface of wet roads so to maintain good contact. The way this scooter tyre is designed is so that the number of sipes, something introduced on the larger more demanding tyres, that increase towards the shoulder of the tyre so that more of them are in contact with the road as the scooter leans in corners, increasing grip for one and of course improving safety, even when riding over white lines and manhole covers.
